On Femininity
It is not the desire to achieve beauty that is wrong, but rather, the obligation to be—or try.
Women are taught to see their bodies in parts and scrutinize every part separately. Breasts, feet, hips, legs, hair, lips, nose, complexion—break a vase and the love that reassembles the fragments is stronger than the being that took its symmetry for granted when it was whole.
